A sustainability recognition as a manufacter
Vantiva takes its responsibility to the planet seriously. At the end of 2021, we committed a carbon trajectory to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the Net-Zero Standard. Our continuous efforts and improvements for a better future have been recognized for the second consecutive year by the sustainability assessment leader EcoVadis who has awarded us a Platinum Medal, the highest rating. Vantiva confirms its place in the top 1% of companies worldwide, with a sustainability performance rated “Advanced” in all categories assessed. As a customer premises equipment manufacturer, whose devices are used by billions of people around the world, we have a unique role to play in this effort. To that effect, we have implemented a number of measures to reduce our environmental impact.
Sustainable and responsible investment with Vantiva
Recycled Plastic for Device Casings
One of the most visible ways we are making a difference is through the use of recycled plastic in our device casings. By using recycled materials, we are able to reduce the amount of new plastic being produced, which in turn reduces the amount of energy and resources required for manufacturing. This also helps to keep plastic waste out of landfills and oceans, which is a critical step in combating the global plastic pollution crisis.
Reducing power consumption
A key aspect of our commitment to sustainability is reducing the power consumption of our devices. Vantiva has been frontrunner in this area since we were one of the initiators for voluntary agreements on power consumption of devices, almost 20 years ago. We have made significant investments in research and development to create devices that use less power without sacrificing performance. We have also implemented features related to power management, which help to further reduce energy usage. By minimizing the power consumption of our devices, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint, but also helping our customers to reduce theirs.
Reducing Single-use packaging
Another important aspect of our sustainability efforts is reducing the amount of single-use packaging. We have worked hard to design packaging that is smaller, lighter, and uses fewer materials, while still providing the necessary protection for our products during shipping. We have also shifted to using more sustainable materials in our packaging, such as paper and cardboard, which are easier to recycle than traditional plastics.
In addition to reducing our use of plastic and packaging, we are also working to optimize our transport processes. By improving the way we fill containers, we are able to transport more products in a single shipment, reducing the number of trips required and the associated carbon emissions. We are using several transport methods, such as rail and sea and across more than 300 shipping routes, which are more environmentally friendly than air freight.
A circular economy approach in our product design process
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are also exploring ways to move towards a circular economy model. This means designing our products with end-of-life considerations in mind and working to keep materials in use for as long as possible. For example, we are exploring ways to make our products more easily disassembled and recyclable, so that the materials they contain can be reused in new products. By embracing the principles of the circular economy, we are taking a proactive approach to reducing waste and creating a more sustainable future.
Engaging customers, suppliers, and partners
Finally, we recognize that sustainability is not something we can achieve alone. That’s why we are committed to engaging with our customers, suppliers, and partners to create a positive dynamic by sharing best environmental practices. We are seeking to work with companies that are committed to reducing their environmental impact too. We also work closely with our customers to provide them with the tools and information they need to make more sustainable choices when it comes to their telecom equipment. We believe that by working all together in an ecosystem in which everyone shares the same values, we can make a positive difference in the world and leave a greener planet for future generations.
